What we have been up to...

So it has been a busy month at our house. Well, busy in the sense that I no longer have gobs of free time. That's right I started work 2 weeks ago. currently I am working as a T.A. in a pre-school class until my classroom is ready to move into (hopefully just another week) then I can have a class of my own! I love, love, love pre-school! The kids always have the most insightful/hilarious things to say.

A few weekends ago I got to go to Utah for my friend Kristen's wedding.
The happy couple
Sarah and baby Maggie
Becca and Jenny's baby Isaac
Room mates reunited: Sarah, Jenny, Kristen, me, Amy, Becca
I got to spend some quality time with Rebecca and Amy. (Thanks for being my chauffers ladies!)

I also got to spend lots of time with my family.
We went and saw John and Rilla's new colt Montana.

We fed the horses on Grandpa's farm.
We visited with Grandpa.
We went and saw the Mo Tab.
We toured Temple Square.

It was a great trip!

A couple weeks later Nate and I went to the Denver Museum of Art with our friends the Hubers.

A funky display outside the museum.

A cool display inside. We decided that the modern art was definitely the most interesting and fascinating, but it could also be the most disturbing. (We tried to avoid the disturbing ones.)
Later that night we went to a Rockies game, and of course they lost. They had beat the same team the night before, but they always manage to lose when we go to the games.
And this is the cool fort we built on a slow Satuday night. And yes we actually slept in it...twice!

The Olympics are over... :-(

...and they did not disappoint. It's time for me to find a new hobby for the next 18 months (just 18 months to Vancouver! yippee!). My favorite part had to be Michael Phelps with his hands out of the water on the 100 butterfly when the other guy was literally an inch from the wall and somehow Michael still won. He is a freak of nature! What was your favorite Olympic moment?

Apparently fall starts on August 15 in Colorado

Rain and a high of 60 yes 60 degrees in August. And the high in Fresno was 105 yesterday. I can't decide whether to be happy or upset. I guess I'm happy for now, as long as this doesn't mean that winter is just around the corner!

08-08-08

I don't know what it is, but I have always LOVED the Olympics! I think I get it from my dad. I have been counting down the days to today for awhile. I love the pageantry, the competition, and the drama! My favorite events are gymnastics, swimming, diving, track, and whatever happens to be on when I'm craving some Olympic coverage! Go team USA!

Key Lime Pie

We LOVE key lime pie around here. Here's our favorite recipe for this delicious treat!
1 graham cracker crust
4 large egg yolks
1 fourteen oz can sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup fresh lime juice (key limes or just regular limes work too!)
2 teaspoons lime zest (green part only)
Whipped cream or cool-whip

Whisk egg yolks and lime zest together until the eggs get a light green tint. Mix in lime juice and sweetened condensed milk. Pour into the pie crust and bake at 350 for 12 minutes or until the middle is set but still wiggles a little. Serve with whipped cream and enjoy!
"I'm Nathan Frederiksen and I approve of this recipe."

Do you know any good classics?

I want to start reading more classics. The problem is there are so many out there, I don't know where to start. I want to invite anyone who reads this blog to leave a comment with the name of their favorite piece of classic literature. I'm open to all genres. I just think it will be interesting to see which ones people think are worth reading. Thanks!

Gotta love the Moses Action Figure
