Merry Christmas!

While I do have Gracie's four-month-old update and Thanksgiving post to do, things have been a little crazy around here. So crazy, in fact, that we are skipping Christmas cards this year. Instead we hope that this video brings you a little Christmas cheer. Merry Christmas!

Trick or Treat

I hope you all had a great Halloween! Our evening started with these spooky mummy dogs with bloody eyeballs (tater tots) and goblin guts (green jello). Then it was onto the fun!

Don't you just love that face?!
She's ready to go!
Clara went trick-or-treating with her two best friends Libby and Maci.
My favorite part of the night was Clara saying "twick o tweet pweeze" at each house. Needless to say, she loved it!
Then today we enjoyed a snow day. Clara was excited to try out her new hat and mittens.
Can you say precarious?
I think she was examining her mittens and was upset because the snow was sticking to them.
And this little gem is just proof that I am the luckiest girl around!

It's Fall Y'all

We have been having a great fall--except for the 6 inches of snow we got on Wednesday. It's gone now, so we will pretend it never happened!
Grace has been smiling a lot more and is as sweet as could possibly be--I mean look at the rolls on those arms! How could you not love that little round face?

Clara's personality is blossoming more and more all the time and I (mostly) love it! This is her dassing (dancing).
We took a quick trip out to Utah last weekend to see Kyle and Jeneca and go to the BYU/Idaho St. football game. The weather was perfect, Kyle and Jen were great hosts, BYU dominated on the field, and the girls were angels in the car. We couldn't have asked for a better trip!

Here is Grace in her gameday outfit. Clara DID NOT want her picture taken, so we will try to get a shot of her BYU outfit another time. Thanks to Aunt Krissy for watching Grace and the little girl next to us for sharing her candy with Clara, it was a great game for all!
I have had our Halloween costumes planned for awhile...ever since I discovered this dress my mom had saved. She made it for me when I was Clara's age and it was the perfect Dorothy dress. The only problem was that I have a very opinionated toddler and she had no clue who Dorothy was. So last week I introduced her to a "new, fun movie" (don't worry we only watched the happy parts--no freaky monkeys!) and every time Dorothy came on the screen we talked about her "pretty blue dress and pretty red shoes." Manipulative, yes. Shameless, yes. But it worked! She was so excited for her costume when I showed it to her on Thursday that she insisted on wearing it the rest of the day. And she was the cutest little Dorothy I have ever seen!
Here's the whole family. Grace loved her costume too, she is just a little stingy with her smiles. And...we won the costume contest for best family costume! I guess the judges were as smitten with our little Dorothy as we were!
All week Nate has been telling Clara they were going to go jump in the leaves. Well, today was the big day and she was so excited! At first she didn't quite know what to do.

Then Nate kindly demonstrated how it was to be done.
She caught on rather quickly.
I think her face says it all!

And I'll leave you with one last smile from this little cherub.

2 month stats

Grace had her 2 month check up this morning. This included her first round of shots and she handled it like a champ!
Her 2 month stats are:
weight: 13 lbs 14 oz.--98th percentile
height: 24.75 in--99th percentile
head: 16.5 in--98th percentile
The doctor commented that she is very proportional!
And just for fun here is Clara at 2 months and her 2 month old stats:
weight: 13 lbs. 2.5 oz
height: 25 in
head: 16.5 in
Almost exactly the same! And, although they don't look much alike right now, I think if you compare these two pictures you can definitely see some similarities!

Chub-a-lub, smiles, and other everyday things

Yesterday I took some very candid 2 month old shots of Grace. At 2 months she sleeps like a champ (6-8 hour stretch at night) smiles, coos, tracks with her eyes very well, and is a sweet and happy baby!

Clara was so excited to hold Gracie, Gracie was not quite as excited to be held by Clara.

If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands!
Stomp your feet!
Shout hooray!
Check out that chub!
The picture above and the next couple are my best attempts at capturing a smile.

I love sleeping kiddo pictures, but have always been afraid to take them at the risk of waking them up. These were taken last week when they were both going on hour three of nap time. At that point I was ok with them waking up, but they both slept right through it!

I am so lucky to get to spend the majority of my time with these two sweet little angels!

Star Struck

Yesterday Clara got to meet a couple of her heroes. Rocky Mountain PBS was doing a kids fair down town and we knew she would be delighted to meet Curious George and Clifford, so we braved the heat (it was only around 80, but it was on asphalt) and fought for parking and made her dreams come true. It was totally worth it!

She was a little hesitant at first
Then Daddy whisked in before George got rushed off to go on stage. We waited in line for about 15 minutes and were the last ones to get a picture before he went on stage.

Then we were off to find the line for Clifford. This line was longer--we waited about 20 minutes--but it was totally worth it.
She was a little shy at first, then she hugged him for probably a minute solid. She loves that dog! All yesterday evening and all day today at random times she would say "hug Clifford" to remind us that she got to hug Clifford.
We ended the afternoon with a trip to our favorite ice cream shop, Bonnie Brae. It is an old-fashioned ice cream shop that makes all their own ice cream. They have "itty-bitty" golf-ball sized cones just for little kids. Nate asked her if she wanted chocolate and she said "No! Pink!" So she got pink. What can I say? She's a girl. (Although I personally would have stuck with the chocolate.)

Blessing Day!

Last Sunday was blessing day for our sweet Gracie. We were lucky enough to have both Grandpas and Uncle Nick visit us for the weekend.
Grace wore the same dress that Clara and I both wore that my Aunt Betty made for me 26+ years ago! I got the bonnet when Clara was a baby. Nate wouldn't let Grace wear the bonnet for the actual blessing because he said it looked ridiculous, but I still had to get a picture of her wearing it.

Nate gave her a beautiful blessing. Grace is such a sweet spirit that we are so lucky to have in our family. We can't imagine our lives without her!

Birthday Girl!

Our little Clara is 2 years old! It's been a fast two years! She was so excited and had been saying "happy bir-day Cara" for days! She was lucky enough to have both her grandpas and Uncle Nick here for her birthday. Here is her big day in pictures for the Grandmas that didn't get to come to the big party.

As soon as Clara woke up we took her out to see her kitchen. Here are a few shots of her getting acquainted with it.
She had her favorite breakfast of Lucky Charms and kept eying all those presents!
Then she got all gussied up in her birthday outfit and played with the kitchen for a bit.

Once Grandpa Rozier and Nick arrived the party began! They all played play-doh together. It was quite an intense sculpting contest.
Nick made a temple/Zion's arch thing
Grandpa made a pair of snakes

Papa made a flower
Daddy made Mickey Mouse
Then it was outside to grill hotdogs and blow bubbles!
This was the first time she got into opening presents and it was so much fun!
She was spoiled with a movie, book, clothes, toys, and the IKEA cooking and baking sets and fruits and veggies to go with her kitchen!
I contemplated making her a cute butterfly or Elmo cake, but settled on these instead. They were a little bit of work, but well worth it. I could have eaten the filling by the spoonful! You need to make these. Really. Click on this link and make them now. You won't regret it.

She was so excited about the cake and blowing out the candles and everything. This is such a great age! It was a great day!

Gotta love the Moses Action Figure
