A Weekend of Firsts

This was Clara's first bath and I think she liked it! She definitely liked it more than a sponge bath.

This was her first time getting dressed up. Isn't she cute?

This looks like a smile to me...her first recorded smile!

This was her first time at church. She was the cutest one there, and she made it through all 3 hours!

Any of you who know me well won't be surprised to hear that I was dying to dress her up in this outfit. It has a cute bonnet that goes with it, but she wasn't too fond of it-maybe next time. Thanks for sending this our way, Cyndy! And thanks Alisa for the adorable bows to complete the outfits! I have never been much of accessorizer myself, but I love accessorizing this little doll!

Clara........is pretty cute.

This is Nate. This post is to appease the masses who keep demanding more pictures. If our child was ugly, I might be hesitant to post any pictures. However, that's not the case, so here you go.

This is the day we took her home from the hospital.

This is her at one week old. In case you can't read it, her outfit says "Who needs a superhero when I have my Dad." It's definitely her favorite outfit.

Clara and grandma! Clara is two weeks old here.

I'm not sure what this face means.

I think the only thing she inherited from me is my squishy face and double-chin.

Clara at three weeks. She's definitely gained weight in her thighs!

Finally...

We got our internet hooked up yesterday. I am dying to post pictures of the little darling...that is as soon as I find the USB cable for the camera--oops! We are loving every minute with Clara. She is such a darling and really quite a good baby. She loves to eat, after all she is my daughter! I can't believe she is 3 weeks old already, but at the same time I don't really remember how life was before she was a part of it! At her 2 week check up she was up to 10 lbs. 2.5 oz. and 22.5 in. long. That's the 95th and 97th percentiles respectively. My mom was here for a week followed by Nate's mom for a week. We sure loved all of their help, thanks again! So hopefully the camera cord will turn up soon and there will be lots of pictures to share!

For Grandpa/"Grand-daddio"

Clara Suzanne Frederiksen

Isn't that a great name! We think it's almost as great as she is! Here's some more pictures...enjoy!

Nate is the best dad ever and is awesome at responding to her every need (and mine as well!)

This is the remnants of our first post-partum date. Complimentary Martinellis and cheesecake from the hospital while watching the BYU-Oklahoma game...go Cougars!

The kid!

So, I am exhausted, but I know I have to post pictures or our mothers will be very disappointed. Julie is holding our little girl right now. She was 9 pounds 8 ounces (which sets a record for my family) and 20 1/4 inches long. After pushing for another one and a half hours, the doctors decided that there was no way the baby was coming, so we went C-section. When they brought her out, she was facing to the side instead of down, and the cord was wrapped around her neck, but she's here! We pretty much think she's the greatest thing ever. (I got to hold her first, so she's definitely going to be a daddy's girl). Here are some pictures!

P.S. Julie is so tough. I am so proud of her for laboring so long and trying so hard. She's a champ, and I love her.

round 2

WARNING: lots of details, that may be too much for the weak...this is more for me to remember how this is all going down. So we went home after 3 attempts to soften the cervix and 30+ hours, but now we're back. this time after 8 hours of the cervidil it worked! I was amazed. By the time I realized I was in labor, I was at a 3 1/2 and my water broke shortly thereafter. I got my epidural (a girl's best friend), slept for awhile, and was 100% effaced and at a 10 around 11 this morning. I pushed for 3 hours, made some progress, but not enough. So now I'm laboring down for an hour, followed by the vacuum, and finally if those don't work because she is stubborn and large then we will head to the OR for a c-section. That's the update...there will be a baby before tomorrow hits!
P.S. I feel amazingly good. The ice here is really good ice and I had the best Popsicle ever a couple of hours ago.

Gotta love the Moses Action Figure
